Jozef Jurko was born on March 1, 1953, in Košice, where he finished his studies at the secondary electrotechnical school. During study he also attended the people‘s art school (graphic section). Since 1976 he has regularly published humorous drawings (cartoons) in various daily newspapers (Východoslovenské noviny, Smena na nedeľu), magazines (Televízia a rozhlas, Roháč, Zrno, Face) and occasionally also in other magazines and journals. For many years he was principal cartoonist of the Košický večer daily and conseqently he was cartoonist for the Košický Korzár daily. He participated in the festival of humorous drawings and satire Novomestský osteň and in a number of collective exhibitions of humorous drawings in Košice. Individual exhibitions : Východoslovenské múzeum (East-Slovakian Museum) /1978/, Klub "M" a "E" in Košice /1992, 1993, 1994/, Východoslovenská galéria (East-Slovakian Gallery) – Humorous drawings 13xVS /1996/, Bratislava, Minigaléria v Mýtnom domčeku (Minigallery in Toll house) /2008/, Galéria v Pekárničke, Košice (Gallery in Bakery) /2010/. He illustrated the children’s book “Rozprávky o Katke“ /2007/, „Leto bocianov“ /2009/, Strašidielka z Urbanovej veže"/2011/. Occasionally he also draws caricature portrait.
